Jaya Periasamy

Jaya has been a dedicated ballroom dance instructor in Norman, Oklahoma, since 2017. He brings to his teaching a wealth of experience, grounded in 13 years of rigorous competitive dance across the United States. His dance journey is defined by a deep versatility; he is fluent not only in traditional Ballroom styles but also possesses deep expertise in Latin and Swing, as well as a competitive background in Country dance. This breadth of knowledge allows him to offer well-rounded instruction that keeps pace with evolving modern techniques and global dance trends.

Jaya is a regular fixture on the Pro/Am dance circuit, where he finds immense personal and professional fulfillment in coaching his students to success and performing alongside them. His commitment to the sport extends to his own development as well, as he remains an active competitor in the Pro/Pro circuit, constantly refining his craft at the highest levels.

Much of Jaya’s success as an instructor can be traced back to his foundational training. Having been mentored by Kate from his very first day in the industry, he credits her influence for his significant professional growth and his disciplined approach to the art of dance. Today, Jaya views teaching not just as a profession, but as a passion project. He is firmly convinced that with the right guidance and a positive mindset, any individual can discover the joy of dance. He takes great pride in cultivating a comfortable, supportive, and energetic studio environment, where students of all skill levels feel empowered to set ambitious goals and, ultimately, achieve them.
